EA Joins Hands with Bigpoint for International Distribution of Play4Free Games

Electronic Arts has spread out its footprint across the gaming world through its varying offerings. For stretching its presence further into the free-to-play segment, the company has teamed up with Bigpoint International Services to distribute its select titles around the world. As a part of this agreement, the gaming giant will deliver its Play4Free strategy title dubbed Lord of Ultima to the Bigpoint network later this month.

Referred to as one of the largest browser-based online game portals, Bigpoint is said to boast of more than 175 million registered users. The company has also been touted to record 250,000 new registrations on a daily basis. Its network across 180 countries blended with localization in 25 languages is expected to help EA promote its Play4Free Games amongst communities across the globe.

“I believe that the gaming industry is starting to fully appreciate the shift towards digital downloads. It is very encouraging to see EA make the push with their Play4Free portfolio and we are eager to add these high-quality games to our network,” enunciated Heiko Hubertz, Chief Executive Officer of Bigpoint.

“Play4Free is front and center of the digital wave and EA is pushing aggressively to be the forerunner in this space,” explained Sean Decker, Vice President of Play4Free. “We strongly believe that partnering with a company that pioneered the free-to-play business will be extremely beneficial in expanding the Play4Free brand globally. Bigpoint is the ideal partner with their global reach and deep understanding of the dynamic free-to-play consumer.”

The first title which will be rolled out as a part of this deal is Lord of Ultima. This game requires players to establish mighty alliances for conquering the new world of Caledonia. On a quest to achieve Lord of Ultima’s status, they will need to build an extravagant empire by bringing their diplomatic, trading and spying skills into play while plundering neighboring cities.

The companies have not disclosed the precise availability details of this first Play4Free game on Bigpoint. More titles are anticipated to follow suit subsequent to Lord of Ultima’s release.
