Soulcalibur IV will have an Online Mode

Gamers who play fighting games were always wondering if there will ever be a game which will give them a robust online multiplayer mode. Their prayers have been answered as Soulcalibur IV will have an Online Mode.

1UP is reporting that details of the Soulcalibur IV online mode appear in the latest issue of EGM. Soulcalibur IV Director Katsutoshi Sasaki spoke to EGM regarding the online mode as well as the player customizations.

He said, “What’s changed this time round is that the next-gen platforms have network infrastructure already in place. We have heard from fans that they really want the game to be online, so we figured that, with the current environment, we really couldn’t make SC4 without online play. We definitely want to allow users to fight with their customized characters during online play. But we are uncertain whether or not you’ll be able to trade characters with friends.”

Soulcalibur IV will be published by Namco Bandai games and is expected to release for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. No release dates have been announced. It remains to be seen how the online mode will map out on the Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
