Metal Gear Online Beta Testing to begin soon says Konami

The Metal Gear Solid series has just turned 20, and now that it has come of age you can expect a lot of treats. At the recent 20th anniversary party hosted by the series’ creator Hideo Kojima, details of the upcoming Metal Gear Online game were revealed.

More importantly, a Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary Edition Box Set will be releasing in a few days.

Metal Gear Online for the PS3 console will see 16 players fight it out online. Plus, the game uses a new control scheme that will debut with Metal Gear Solid 4.

Metal Gear Online also features characters and environments from the single player game. Apparently, the theme for this game is “hide and seek”.

The theme fitted aptly once the gameplay was revealed to those who attended. The gameplay which has two teams playing against each other, shows that players are able to use a body heat mode to tell where their team mates are.

Plus, players will be able to hack into the opposing team’s body heat system, by scanning an enemy who is nearby.

This box set comprises just about everything an MGS fan would ever require including games on DVDs like Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear SAGA.

The Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary Edition will be released on July 26, 2007 in Japan.

Konami revealed that the beta testing for Metal Gear Online would begin around August 20 and is scheduled to end on September 3 in Japan. They also said that around 3000 participants would be able to take part in this beta testing.
