Hyrule Warriors is a Zelda spin-off for Wii U, More Nintendo news

Nintendo yesterday announced a game called Hyrule Warriors, which is a spin-off to The Legend of Zelda series, and is slated to hit the Wii U sometime in 2014. For those wondering, don’t worry, this is not the flagship Zelda Wii U game which has been under development since long. Nintendo has also revealed news related to a few other games which it has lined up for the future, including Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, a Dr. Luigi game, Yoshi’s New Island and an interesting sounding title called NES Remix.

Hyrule Warriors is actually a partnership between Nintendo and Tecmo Koei, which takes the world and protagonist of the former’s The Legend of Zelda series and combines it with the melee combat of the latter’s Warriors series. A surprise in yesterday’s Nintendo Direct broadcast came in the form of NES Remix, a new Wii U title which picks up old NES games and revamps them for the new console. 2013 is The Year of Luigi as Nintendo had pointed out at its beginning, and this story continues with a new announcement in the form of Dr. Luigi. It’s a new take on the Dr. Mario franchise, and is slated to hit the Wii U eShop on January 15, priced at 13.49 GBP (approx. Rs 1,350).

In other Nintendo news, Yoshi’s New Island has received a release window for spring 2014. Moreover, although Mario Kart 8 doesn’t have a launch date as yet, you can still have a look at its new trailer. Rosalina and Luma from the Mario Galaxy games, have both been confirmed to form part of it.

Moreover, they will also be seen making their way into the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game. Again no release date information about this game has been made available.

Lastly, Nintendo has just released a new Golf mode for the Wii Sports Club for the Wii U.
