Is Nintendo planning a new home gaming console?

If a drop in the price of the Wii seemed like the end to Nintendo’s home console journey, then think again. Although the company has not issued a statement confirming this rumor, the news is strengthening from point to point. Now, hearsay has led to speculations that not only will the price tag of the Wii shrink but also that the company is planning a successor to the device.

Nintendo Wii 2 Rumor

Nintendo is expected to unveil the successor to the Wii during this year’s E3, reports a post on GameInformer. Rumors have been pouring into the domain indicating that the company is crafting a new gaming console which could be either less or more powerful as opposed to the Xbox 360 and PS3 but with ‘competitive specifications.’

Plugged to be currently under development in Nintendo’s lab, the speculated device is being crafted for alluring gamers on the western coast. A report by CVG indicates that the system could boast of HD 1080p resolution graphics with an all-new controller. It is also alleged that the company has been manifesting the system to third-party developers for inducing interest towards this addition in the Nintendo family.

With conjectures and assumptions hovering in the sky, several questions are left unanswered. Whether the console will be dished out under the Wii brand or is a new brand being created to launch it are some of the matters which remain unreturned. As gossips flood the terrain, we are eagerly waiting to hear more but this time from an official source.

The rumored replacement of the Wii is expected to stride in by the end of 2012. However, Nintendo has again not yet verified either the price drop for the Wii or the unveiling of its successor. Probably, we’ll need to hold our horses until the company finally lets us sneak into its E3 conferences and insights.
