Red Steel 2’s Success “Absolutely Crucial” says Developer

We saw Red Steel 2 get delayed by Ubisoft along with a few other titles from the publisher. With this much of a delay you can understand the pressure heaped on a title such as this. And the game’s Creative Director, Jason Vandenberghe believes that it is absolutely imperative that Red Steel 2 succeed, or else you can kiss goodbye to any dreams you might have of Red Steel 3.

Speaking to Play.tm, Jason Vandenberghe said, “It was clear from the beginning we had to succeed. It was absolutely crucial. It was obvious that, if Red Steel 2 came out and it was not well-received by the fans, we were done. There would be no Red Steel 3. There would be no point in continuing that: once is an offense, twice is a pattern.”

He also explained why the team has been keeping it very low key with respect to the game, saying, “It also meant that we didn’t want to talk about the game until we knew you could play it. That was the other big thing.”

Red Steel 2 is scheduled to release for the Wii towards the end of March.
