Super Punch Out on Wii-kly Update: Farewell Edition

We have heard that this will be the last Wii-kly Update, at least in terms of the name. Starting from next week, April 6, 2009 the Wii-kly Update will be called the Nintendo Download. This is being done since the Nintendo DSi launches on April 5, 2009 and brings with it the Nintendo DSi Shop. Hence this release will be used to announce not only Wii games but even games for the DSi. This week, Nintendo releases one VC game and one WiiWare game onto the Wii Shop Channel. Last week Nintendo released Pop’Em Drop’Em Samegame as WiiWare.

Super Punch Out

This week’s Virtual Console game is Super Punch Out!! which is a classic boxing game and known for pitting players against tough opponents. In the game Little Mac finds himself in the boxing ring once again, since the World Video Boxing Association belt is at stake. Some of Little Mac’s greatest rivals like Bald Bull, Bear Hugger and Super Macho Man are featured in the game with a bunch of new challengers waiting in the wings. Super Punch Out is for one player and can be purchased from the Wii Shop Channel by redeeming 800 Wii Points.

Bonsai Barber is the game to hit the WiiWare section, and challenges the player, as a new barber, to use items such as clippers, scissors and spray cans to spruce up their gardens. Players play as a “first-person-groomer” in this humorous title and must satisfy the cast of 12 customers, each with their own quirks. If you miss an appointment, then you can expect an earful on your Wii Message Board, but do well and you might just get a gift. Bonsai Barber is for one to four players and can be bought for 1000 Wii Points.
