Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 ships to North American retailers

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that their Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 or PES 2009 for Nintendo’s Wii home console has shipped to North America. Wii owners finally get a serving of PES 2009, after the game was announced for the Wii sometime last August. The Wii version of the game includes exclusive co-op play among other features.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 for the Wii features real players, a large number of licensed teams and a variety of professional grounds to play on. The AI system has been updated for the game and the ball is a completely separate entity. Timing the shots is under full control of the user, and the game includes smarter attack and defense moves. The system that controls dribbling has also been updated making its easy to get the ball up and down the pitch. The Wii version of PES 2009 features the ‘Master League Mode’ in which players can build a team from various transfers bringing football strategy elements to casual fun football.

Wii users can use the game’s online features and options. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 can be played by up to 4 players offline using co-op play and has a largely enhanced online mode which supports up to 8 gamers simultaneously playing. Players can choose from either the Nunchuck, the Wii remote, the horizontal Wii remote or the Classic controller to play PES 2009 on the Wii. Also, the game allows players to create and customize items such as badges, team kits as well as football players.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 features the ‘UEFA Champions League Mode’. Twenty-one year old Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona and Argentine International player and Andres Guardado, who plays for Deportivo de La Coruña and the Mexican national football team will be the faces of this latest version of the game. Also, PES 2009 will feature soccer analyst Luis Garcia and Christian Martinoli as Spanish commentators.

With the latest inclusion, the game is now available for the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, the PC and the Nintendo Wii. Konami has not announced any price for the North American Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.
