No Wii HD launching in next year: Nintendo

There have been rumors of a new high-definition Wii 2 doing its rounds in the gaming terrain for about a week now. Well all these speculations have just been crushed with the statement made by Nintendo America President Reggie Fils-Aime. According to Gametrailers TV, Reggie distinctly announces that there wont be a Wii HD.

Nintendo says no Wii HD

Speculation looming around suggested that the next iteration of the Wii console would include Blu-ray player and also supposedly support up to 1080p. Even Analyst Michael Pachter had said that players could expect a HD version of the Wii to be out in 2010. These rumors got the console fans hopes soaring high but were just as quickly dampened with Reggie revealing that all this was not true and that there would be no such thing released.

In an interview with presenter Geoff Keighley, Nintendo America President Fils-Aime commented, “Michael (Pachter) continues to be the only one who believes this is going to happen. I don’t know how forcefully we can say that there is no Wii HD.”

With this revelation, it looks like Nintendo may not follow in the footsteps of Microsoft and Sony who already include HD in their gaming systems namely Xbox 360 and PS3.
