This week brings with it a fresh line-up of downloadable games for the Wii and Nintendo DSi, including 2 WiiWare titles, one VC game and one Nintendo DSiWare title. Contra Rebirth and ColorZ hit the WiiWare, while Super Return of the Jedi makes its way onto the Virtual Console and Clubhouse Games Express: Family Favorites finds itself landing among the Nintendo DSiWare titles.
Contra Rebirth is the WiiWare game in which Chief Salamander and his force travel back to 1973 AD to invade the earth. The aliens land in Central America and set out to destroy all the “Contra” on earth. The Galactic President seeks the help of Lance Bean, an elite Contra warrior to say the planet. But his sudden disappearance means that Bill Rizer and samurai Genbei Yagyu must do the job themselves. Contra Rebirth is from Konami and for one or two players. The game can be purchased for 1000 Wii Points.
ColorZ for WiiWare is from Exkee and for one to three players. The game takes players on a spaceship quest to clean up virus-infested planets. Players can absorb viruses of the same colour, but must beware of different coloured viruses. They can even merge ships to form new colours. The game’s multiplayer mode adds a new dimension to the gameplay. ColorZ can be obtained by redeeming 700 Wii Points.
This week’s VC game is Super Return of the Jedi, originally for the Super NES. Gamers are extended the invitation to join the Rebellion and defeat the Death Star. Five different characters are playable including Wicket the Ewok and Princess Leia, as you take on the Empire’s worst. Super Return of the Jedi is published by LucasArts for one player and can be downloaded for 800 Wii Points.
Clubhouse Games Express: Family Favorites is this week’s only DSiWare title. The game is from Nintendo and can be played by up to eight players, as players are given the option to choose from five family-friendly games. Classic card games contract Bridge and Hearts, and other games such as Dominoes, Dots and Boxes, and Ludo are available. Players can host up to seven friends using DS Download Play. Clubhouse Games Express: Family Favorites can be downloaded from the Nintendo DSi Shop for 500 Nintendo DSi Points.
