Dead Space coming to Nintendo Wii, EA Reveals

EA held its third quarter earnings call on February 3, 2009 and announced that they would direct more focus to the Nintendo Wii in the upcoming fiscal year, which is from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010. To show their commitment to the Wii, half of all their titles will release for the Wii leaving the PS3 and Xbox 360 to share the remaining half of EA releases.

John Riccitiello, CEO of EA said that Dead Space among others, of their ‘core’ titles, would shift to the Nintendo Wii. “We’re bringing core intellectual properties to the franchise in categories we think have legs on the Wii platform,” he stated. “Nintendo is the leader; they’re getting half our emphasis in terms of title counts. This year’s (Wii) title slate is a significant improvement from last year.”

Dead Space 3

Riccitiello said that EA would release ten new titles including Dead Space, Lord of the Rings, Mirror’s Edge, Battlefield Bad Company, Spore, Tiberium and Sim Animals. He informed that they plan to shift more than 20 titles for the Wii and over 15 for the Nintendo DS.
