Monolith Software Acquired by Nintendo

Nintendo has acquired video game developer Monolith Software by buying Namco Bandai’s stake in the company. However, Namco still holds 16% in Monolith Software while Nintendo now holds 80%.

Namco Bandai has stated that they would continue to work closely with Monolith Soft on game development in the future. Monolith Software (who are different from F.E.A.R. developer Monolith) has made successful role-playing games like Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos for Nintendo GameCube and the Sony PS2.

In fact, one of the current projects of Monolith Software is Disaster: Day of Crisis, which will soon release for the Nintendo Wii. The gaming studio was formed by ex-Square man Hirohide Sugiura.
