The Nintendo DS is a good platform for titles which help people learn new things like skills and languages. The console already allows people to learn some cooking skills with titles such as Cooking Mama. Now Nintendo has announced that it has on offer a new simple way for families and friends to get cooking with America’s Test Kitchen: Let’s Get Cooking for the Nintendo DS family of consoles. The title will offer several delicious and easy-to-follow recipes and encourages budding cooks to engage in the fun by preparing a meal together.
“America’s Test Kitchen: Let’s Get Cooking proves that you can never have too many cooks in the kitchen,” Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing stated. “The experts at America’s Test Kitchen have taken the guesswork out of cooking, allowing you and your fellow cooks to relax and enjoy the moment. The results are as fun as they are delicious.”
The game has about 300 “rigorously tested recipes” which cover everything from appetizers to desserts. It features interactive step-by-step instructions on how to prepare the recipes, as well as a wide range of age-appropriate kitchen tasks. Each recipe has prompts in order to clarify things that might be unclear, and even audible instructions and ‘how-to’ videos. The game also has a handwriting recognition feature allowing users to take notes.
When you’re cooking in the kitchen you might not have your hands free. And so America’s Test Kitchen: Let’s Get Cooking allows each person in the kitchen to use voice commands to navigate the software via the system’s built-in microphone. As an added bonus, when multiple DS users are preparing recipes from the software, they can transmit select recipes wirelessly between systems, even if only one of them has a copy of the game card.
America’s Test Kitchen: Let’s Get Cooking will release in the US on March 28, 2010, the same day as the new DSi XL goes on sale. The software will be priced at 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 910).
