Last year saw THQ unfurl many SpongeBob titles onto various gaming platforms. These include SpongeBob SquarePants Frantic Fry Cook for DS, Diner Dash for PC and Atlantis Treasures for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Now the company brings to fans of the loveable yellow sea sponge from Bikini Bottom its first demolition derby style party game. THQ announces SpongeBob’s Boating Bash for the Nintendo Wii as well as the Nintendo DS and DSi gaming consoles.
SpongeBob’s Boating Bash is noted to be a fast-paced game complete with high energy elements strewn in it. Gamers can choose from among nine SpongeBob characters and crash-n-bash within the demolition arenas espied all over Bikini Bottom. The title enables up to four players to pick from over 100 customized boat mobiles. To earn points and progress to higher levels, players have to knock off and gather other boast parts. The ultimate aim of the game is to finally earn their boat mobile license.
The story of SpongeBob’s Boating Bash sees SpongeBob tricked into taking the ‘Learn to D.R.I.V.E.’ by Seymour Scales after he fails Ms. Puff’s boat mobile driving 78 times. Players can expect an unusual driving adventure where they have to steer clear of obstacles while crashing into other boat mobiles in order to emerge as the winner. They have to drive customizable boat mobiles to bring down their opponent’s boats and be the last one standing.
The Nintendo Wii, DS and DSi versions of SpongeBob’s Boating Bash are scheduled to release this spring. The exact pricing details are not yet disclosed by the company.
