This week Nintendo announced 2 new applications, Mario Clock and Mario Calculator for its DSiWare service. Announcements for new releases are made every Monday by Nintendo at 9 am Pacific Time.
The Mario Clock application offers both a digital and an analog interface. Players must help Luigi and Mario collect as many coins as possible, by running through the various stages, and these can be used to view different scenes. As far as functionality is concerned, users can set up to 3 alarms and customize the alarm sound by using tones from the DSi’s sound application or alternatively using Mario-related sounds. Mario Clock from Nintendo can be purchased by redeeming 200 Nintendo DSi Points.
The Mario Calculator is a 13-digit calculator with skins and sounds adapted from the original Super Mario Bros game. The different functions include a unit converter which allows the user to convert between similar units of measure such as volume, age, length, weight. It also allows you to review your calculations using the history function. Mario Calculator is published by Nintendo and can be downloaded in exchange for 200 Nintendo DSi Points.
Nintendo DSi Points can be obtained either from the Nintendo DSi Shop or from a Nintendo Points Card available at retail. The DSi comes with a parental control feature which allows parents to keep a tab on content usage by their children.
