Deca Sports, known as Sports Island in Europe, is the sports video game for the Nintendo Wii console from Hudson Soft. The game was hugely successful and a sequel, Deca Sports 2 is planned. In light of this, Hudson Soft has announced that the company is all set to release the original Deca Sports for the Nintendo DS in the spring of 2010.
“With the original Deca Sports title shipping two million copies worldwide, we felt strongly that the franchise would translate to Nintendo DS” stated Mike Pepe, director of marketing at Hudson Entertainment. “With ten completely new sports and game sharing, Deca Sports DS is going to give gamers and sports enthusiasts everywhere the same great experience they have come to know and love on Wii.”
Deca Sports DS will have a totally new and, at the same time, diverse selection of sports. This selection has been made to include bobsledding, golf, ping pong, rugby, wall climbing, and even some whacky sports such as arm wrestling, cheerleading, clay shooting, sepak takraw and sky diving.
Players will be able to customize their very own teams and uniforms, and change the abilities of athletes. Up to six players will be able to play together using the Nintendo handheld’s wireless capabilities.
