Chrono Trigger for Nintendo DS Announced by Square Enix

From the time the first game was released in the nineties, the Chrono series has been quite popular with gamers who enjoy playing console role playing games. Now Square Enix has sent word that Chrono Trigger will be released on Nintendo’s handheld console, the DS.

Chrono Trigger features artwork from manga artist Akira Toriyama while Yasunori Mitsuda provides the music. Though the game is revamped, Chrono Trigger for the DS is expected to maintain all of the game’s original elements. It will introduce portability as well as dual-screen presentation and touch-screen functionality.

Chrono Trigger for the Nintendo DS is expected to have an exciting battle system that has been made possible by the exceptional amalgamation of the Active Time Battle system and Tech skills. Also, the role-playing game will feature a new dungeon and a Wireless Play mode.

Chrono Trigger for the Nintendo DS is expected to be out in North America in late 2008. This is the first time that this RPG has been made available on a handheld gaming console. The game was first released on the SNES and then it went to the PSOne.
