Nintendo DS Lite Shipment Stolen

Nintendo DS Lite

Nintendo has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that a shipment of DS Lite units has been stolen last week. It was bound for UK and was worth £1.26 million (Rs. 10 Crores.).
Nintendo refused to confirm the figures and stated, “A number of white DS Lite made for the UK market were stolen in Hong Kong. Nintendo is making every effort to ensure that there are enough products available in the UK to meet market demand at launch.” Though the Nintendo DS Lites are identified by their serial numbers, it will be very difficult for the company to recover the shipment.

An entire truck was stolen. This will create a lot of problems for Nintendo as it is struggling to meet the high demand in North America as well as Japan where it is hugely popular. It sold an amazing 1,35,000 units in North America.

The Nintendo DS Lite is slated to be released on June 23 in the UK.
It will retail for £ 99.99 (Rs. 8000).
