Open Beta dated for Battlestar Galactica Online

Battlestar Galactica Online is an upcoming massively multiplayer online game with a futuristic backdrop under development by BigPoint Games. According to a recent post on the official BigPoint forum, an open access to beta build of the new space combat title will commence next week.

While American gamers seem to log in on individual servers, Battlestar Galactica Online open beta will be hosted on one server for all of the Europe. The amount of servers will increase according to the requirements. All Open, Fleet and System chat channels are unveiled for English-speaking individuals only, in addition to the language being the official chat language of the open beta. European game clients will also be released later on.

“We are planning to release Battlestar Galactica Online to Open Beta at the latest on February the 8’th 2011,” posted ‘Husker’, Community Team Member, BigPoint.

Moreover, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Turkish players will be provided with a client supporting their own language, each with their own restricted BGO forum. For players taking part in the Closed Beta, all the beta accounts are slated to be restored on the renamed beta servers. Reportedly, BigPoint won’t be supporting any item, resources, cubits or account transfers.

The three game servers are ‘Tauron’ for Europe Beta along with ‘Scorpia’ and ‘Caprica’ hosted on US East Datacenter and US West Datacenter each.
