Lego has invaded the gaming terrain with many of its popular releases complete with Lego themes. These include Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Batman, and Lego Star Wars among other fun titles. Now the Lego Group disclosed that a new game dubbed as Lego Universe will unfurl across US, UK and Western Europe by October this year. According to the company this is the first MMOG to be based on the Lego play experience.

Lego fans can get a taste of just what to expect in the form ”˜The Founders’ release. E3 attendees can also get a sneak peek of Lego Universe at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment booth. The content being showcased at the event focuses on the upcoming game’s building and behaviors features. Players will be able to create just about anything their imagine conjures up and breathe life into it by utilizing a basic programming language.
Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Vice President, Lego Digital, the Lego Group commented, “Our vision is to provide Lego fans of all ages with a whole new quality play experience and creative platform, and Lego Universe will open up exciting new opportunities for fun and expression this October. The dedicated LEGO fan community has contributed to the development of Lego Universe since the start of the project, and we show our appreciation with the early Founders release.”
The Founders is set to launch on October 12, 2010 while the official game is scheduled to unveil by October 26, 2010. Players will be able to get their hands on the offering through Lego channels like Legoland, Lego Stores and Lego Online Shop. On the official release day, they can acquire their copy via all retail channels.
The MMOG Lego Universe will be compatible with PC and Mac platforms with the matter version running on TransGaming’s Cider Portability Engine. Other territories will receive the game after the launch.
