2K Games is not known for massively multiplayer online games. It is known for games like Civilization Revolution and BioShock, which didn’t have a multiplayer. But now the times are changing. Now 2K Games has sent word that they will be publishing the Champions Online MMO.
John Needham is the chief executive office of Cryptic Studios. He commented, “2K Games is a wonderful publishing partner for Champions Online. Cryptic is proud that Champions Online will be 2K’s first MMO title and we look forward to working together towards a incredible launch next year.”
Christoph Hartmann is the president of 2K. He says, “2K Games is thrilled to work with such a talented group as Cryptic Studios. Given their stellar pedigree and amazing grasp of the MMO genre, we are sure that Champions Online will deliver an innovative and exciting action MMO experience to gamers.”
Champions Online is being developed by California-based Cryptic Studios for the Xbox 360 and the PC. It is based on the Champions pen-and-paper role-playing game and is scheduled to be out in 2009 spring.
