Halo: Reach last installment in the present Halo trilogy?

Halo: Reach is the much anticipated first-person shooter which is being developed especially for the Xbox 360. The sixth installment is the prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved. We have now come across some new revelations about the upcoming FPS. It seems that Halo: Reach may be the last title in the ‘current’ Halo trilogy.

Bungie’s community manager Brian Jarrard told VG247, “For now Reach is definitely our next big thing, and it doesn’t really fit into the Halo trilogy itself. It’s definitely a prequel, standalone offering, so we don’t have current plans to go back and inject more content into the current Halo trilogy. I think ODST is going to be a nice exclamation point, a nice rounding up of multiplayer content and a different side-story, but right now Reach is our focus.”

This speculation comes just a month after Bungie senior designer Lars Bakken made his startling revelation. According to Videogamer, Bakken disclosed that Halo: Reach may be the company’s last Halo title. Now Bungie’s community manager Brian Jarrard clarifies the comments put forth by Bakken.

Brian Jarrard explained to VideoGamer, “The clarification is we just don’t know at this point. I’m not really able to speculate on what we’re going to do after Reach. I wouldn’t confirm or deny at this point. We’re really excited to get Reach out the door. Beyond that, we’re not at liberty to say right now what’s next.”

He further added, “I think there’s a lot of work just to get Reach done between now and next fall. At that point anything’s possible. We’re going to keep looking at making the games we want to make. Maybe that’s Halo. Maybe it’s not. We’ll have to wait and see.”

It is still unclear whether Halo: Reach is really the final game in the Halo trilogy. The game is expected to make a release in the autumn of 2010 while Halo: ODST is set to hit stores on September 22.
