Gears of War 2 is the tactical third person shooter from Microsoft Game Studios released in 2008, exclusively for the Xbox 360. Now we have word that Gears of War 2 has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide, taking the total unit sales of the Gears of War franchise to over 11 million.
In celebration of this milestone, Microsoft Game Studios and developer Epic Games plan to release a compilation of all the previous Gears of War 2 game add-ons, plus totally new campaign and multiplayer content, in a value pack called the ”˜Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection’. The compilation will include the ”˜Gears of War 2: Dark Corners’ add-on pack which contains one deleted campaign called ”˜Road to Ruin’ and seven new multiplayer maps. The ”˜Road to Ruin’ campaign sees Marcus and Dom return to Locust Hollow, and can be played either in the guns-blazing style or in a completely new stealth mode. Included in the ”˜Gears of War 2: Dark Corners’ add-on, are the seven new multiplayer maps:
Allfathers Garden: At the COG landmark, powerful weapons lead to intense action on the holy grounds of the Coalition founders.
Highway: This map features complex tunnels in the underground highway system with enemies teeming at every corner.
Memorial: In this map, players fight for control of the Boomshot, putting their skills to the test. The map is based near the Eternal Flame, which honors the soldiers, fallen in battlefield.
Nowhere: This map is set in a harsh and unforgiving land, lacking any life forms. Players must mag their opponents with the Longshot sniper rifle, and get their well fortified team to the stairwell.
Sanctuary: The sanctuary used to be a peaceful place, but now is a place of death. An arsenal of weapons is available as players make their way around literally blind corners and through tight pathways of the temple corridors.
War Machine: This map takes players to an abandoned train station. Players must master the Boomshot, Longshot and Mulcher in order to take the fight to the opponents, while dodging bullets from the above platforms.
Way Station: The fallen COG soldiers sit precariously at Locust way stations, between death and “processing”. Players must beware of the minefield of hidden grenades as they navigate the map.
The ”˜Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection’ game add-on not only contains new content, but also features every game add-on released for Gears of War 2, to date, including the Combustible, Flashback and Snowblind Map Packs. The ”˜Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection’ also contains a custom Xbox Live theme as well as Epic Games design director, Cliff Bleszinski’s, introduction to ”˜Road to Ruin’, a strategy guide and a Gears of War 2 collectible poster.
The ”˜Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection’ add-on will be available on July 28, 2009 only at retail for a price of 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 980) or 19.99 Euros (approx. Rs. 1,340) or 14.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 1,495). Players who already have the previously released game add-ons can download the ”˜Gears of War 2: Dark Corners’ add-on, which has the new content, from the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1600 Microsoft Points.
