Earlier this month we had reported that a new Halo game would be announced at E3 2008. Apparently this Halo title would not feature Master Chief. Now gaming news website GameSpot is reporting that the new Halo game will not only be ‘Master Chief-free’ but will also be squad based.
A source mentioned to them that this new Halo game will be something like a spin-off that will be a cross between Ghost Recon and Gears of War. Yes, they are planning to make the new game not only less cartoony but also more bloody, violent, and grim. The new Halo game apparently will be a tactical shooter and features a squad of colonial marines.
The source did not reveal any more details of the new Halo game but apparently it will let gamers play as a complete squad in co-op mode all the way through the entire campaign. As expected, Microsoft is quiet about the new Halo game. There is still confusion as to whether this game is the Halo: Forerunner project that was rumored two years ago or it is a new title altogether.
