Microsoft Working on Motion Sensing Controller for the Xbox 360?

Wii Xbox 360 Controller Some snitch/informer has revealed to MTV News that Microsoft is working hard on its own version of a Wii remote since last summer. It may not come as a surprise since both its competitors, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii have motion sensing capabilities. The source has mentioned that the 360mote does everything a Wii controller can and more. Click here to see the image of the prototype.

The task of developing the controller has been bestowed upon Rare, the Microsoft-owned studio that was responsible for Perfect Dark Zero. It has been said that they are unable to meet their dead lines but it is rumored that Microsoft is looking forward to release the controller at the end of the year. Like always when Microsoft is contacted regarding rumors, they reply with their usual answer, “Microsoft does not comment on rumors and speculation.”

An excerpt from the MTV article:

The Microsoft controller isn’t just a competition to the WiiMote, it is lot more. “They want the usual assortment of ‘Halo’/ ‘Gears’/ ‘Forza’/ whatever, just in waggle form,” the source told MTV. Such idea-generation has not gone smoothly. “The whole thing is a colossal clusterf—,” the source said. “[Microsoft] marketing just want it so they can match the Wii point for point. The biggest parts of their marketing materials outline how easy it would be for third parties to port their Wii games to the 360.” If that wasn’t screaming “rip-off” already, wait till you hear this…

Rare is also working on the Mii Concept of the Wii but it will be better and elaborative. Microsoft’s Miis are designed to be associated with any game that incorporates the controller and create a standard “look” for the games. First Blu-ray and now this. We don’t know how much of this is yay! or nay! but it definitely will have “rip-off” written all over it. We will find out soon enough.
