Xbox 360 Avatars Will Be Limited To Non Violent Games

The E3 event that was held this year threw up a lot of surprises this year but Xbox 360 gamers were happy with Microsoft when they came to know about the new fall dashboard update that will have avatars. But now Develop is reporting that Eric Kilgore from Microsoft said that the Xbox 360 avatars will be restricted to the titles rated E10+ and lower by the ESRB.

Xbox 360 Avatars

Eric Kilgore is the general manager for Xbox Live at Microsoft. At the GameFest event by Microsoft in Seattle, Kilgore mentioned, “We are still developing the final policies. The final guide we have this year is to think of them in an ‘E10’ context. That does not mean it won’t change, but this Fall they won’t be able to blow each other’s heads off.”

The Microsoft man had a lot to say about the avatars. It seems that these avatars will be made in such a way by Microsoft that they will not only be accessible by the Xbox dashboard but also websites and forum profiles. Kilgore said that one important thing about the avatar is that developers will be able to access and use the avatar data. As for incorporation of avatars into games, they can be used in 2D images or full 3D models.
