A teenager living in South London was shot three times last Wednesday when burglars broke into his home. The teenaged robbers shot the eighteen-year-old victim at point-blank range.
They entered his house and asked him to hand over his Xbox 360. A tussle broke out between the Xbox 360 owner and the robbers. In the fight, one of the robbers, who was seventeen years old, was stabbed. The victim was also shot as he went to fetch the Microsoft Xbox 360. The other robbers left but the victim and the injured robber were hospitalized and are now in a stable condition. Police are now looking out for two or three black men who were involved in the robbery. This is the first time something like this has happened in the United Kingdom where someone was actually shot for a video game console.
A source quoted, “You’re talking somebody being robbed and shot in their home for a games console. It is the sort of thing you would expect in America, not here. The violence used was extreme.”
But there have been incidents in the UK related to console thefts. When the PS3 was launched over there, many thugs were waiting outside shops so that they could pounce on the people who bought Sony’s next-gen console.
