The soon-to-be-launched Xbox 360 will pack along with it a 20GB detachable Xbox 360 hard drive for storing music, video and games; an Xbox 360 wireless controller; an Xbox 360 media remote control; a component HD-AV cable for connecting to component and composite television inputs; an Ethernet cable; plus batteries.
On the India launch, an excited Mitch Koch, corporate vice president – global retail sales and marketing group, entertainment and devices division, Microsoft, said, “Ahead of Diwali this year, the next generation of fire cracker gaming will begin in India with the launch of Xbox 360. With its high-definition graphics and compelling digital entertainment features, the Xbox 360 will deliver mind-blowing experiences across multiple genres of gamers, no matter what their personal gaming preferences are. We are confident that the response from gamers in India, will match the worldwide euphoria around the Xbox 360.”
Alan Bowman, general manager (Asia Pacific and Greater China), entertainment and devices division, Microsoft, said, “The strong portfolio of gaming titles and possibilities on the Xbox 360, appeal to fans of every genre. The response across Asia so far has been phenomenal, and we look forward to the India launch.”
“It is estimated there are 1.6 million gamers in India who spend at least 2 hours playing everyday,” commented Mohit Anand, country manager at Microsoft’s India entertainment and devices division to Reuters. “The market, which is coming off a small base, is rapidly increasing as the population is young and tech-savvy.”
What’s more, Microsoft India also announced that it plans to partner with EA Sports and Adidas for Xbox 360’s pre-order campaign that is scheduled to coincide with the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Through the pre-order promotion, the users can avail of the Xbox 360 core system with a 10% discount at Rs 19,990. Microsoft hopes to set up 1,200 retail outlets in main cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad.
