Just like the rest of the world, Microsoft will start selling its next-gen Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X consoles in India on November 10. And just like the rest of the world, pre-orders for these machines will begin on September 22. The lack of an optical drive and a lower-powered GPU on the Series S allows Microsoft to price it at Rs 34,990, while the all-encompassing Series X has been placed at Rs 49,990.
The Xbox Series S, as you might know, comes with the same CPU with slightly slower clock frequencies, while it uses a slower custom RNDA2 GPU with 4 TFLOPS of power instead of the 12 TFLOPS of the Series X. It targets 1440p resolutions at 60fps, but can indeed go as high as 120fps in some cases. Plus, there’s a 4K upscaler in there as well.
The Xbox Series X, on the other hand, is the full-fledged next-gen experience from Microsoft. It boasts of the custom 7nm AMD Zen 2 CPU with eight cores running at a nominal 3.8GHz. As for the GPU, it gains AMD’s RDNA2 graphics architecture and holds 56 compute units with 3584 cores, making it capable of doling out 12.15 TFLOPS of output. All this power is rated for true 4K gaming at 60fps, while 8K resolutions, as well as 120fps framerates, are also supported.
Xbox All Access, the subscription service that allows people to own an Xbox console and pay it off over a 24-month period with no upfront costs, is all set to expand to 12 countries during this holiday season. However, India is not one among them.
As we said, September 22 is when pre-orders for the Xbox Series S and Series X will be opened up in India, with their actual release date being November 10.
