After only having showcased the design of its controller a few months back, Sony has unveiled what the actual PS5 console will look like. It’s the kind of design that will definitely take its time to grow on you, but it’s quite the fodder all those meme pages out there. Along with the console though, Sony has also showcased a number of top-tier games that will be made available for the PS5 late this year or early next year.
The PS5 will be sold in the form of a digital-only edition as well, which will omit the disc drive from its body. Expect the price of this model to be lesser than the disc-espousing variant. Although, at the moment, no information about the pricing is available. The Japanese giant has also unveiled other PlayStation gear that includes an HD camera, a controller charging station, a media remote, and a Pulse 3D wireless headset. This, along with the DualSense controller that was already revealed by the company, with its strong haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Coming to the games, the first big title to be revealed was Spider-Man: Miles Morales, an expansion to 2018’s hit offering from Insomniac Games that will allow you to take control of Peter Parker’s successor. It’s coming during the holidays this year. Gran Turismo 7 was also announced, albeit, without a release date. Gearbox and Counterplay Games’ new IP Godfall got a trailer, and it’s coming late this year itself.
And then there was the revelation of Hitman 3, the third set of episodes from the planned trilogy, which will arrive early next year. Horizon: Forbidden West is a true blue sequel to Zero Dawn, and it’s yet to get a release date. Resident Evil 8: Village has been announced, with a creepy European setting and a 2021 release timeframe. Other games announced for the PS5 include, a Demons Souls remake, a Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition, a new Ratchet and Clank game, a new Sackboy game, NBA 2K21 and plenty of other titles.
