PS Vita Slim gets a UK release date and price

Almost two years following its original release, the PS Vita will be making its way to the market in a thinner avatar in the form of its Slim model. After having been made available in Japan in October last year, this device will be making its western debut in the UK on February 7, 2014. It will be priced at 180 GBP (approx. Rs 18,660), and there’s no word out yet about when the device will be launched in North America and other territories.

PS Vita Slim

Sony has given this news through a press briefing which took place earlier today, where it announced that the PS Vita Slim will be replacing the older model of the gaming handheld. The Wi-Fi-capable device was unveiled at this year’s Tokyo Game Show as a successor to the PS Vita. Also known as the PCH-2000, it’s about 41 grams lighter than its precursor and of course, 3mm slimmer. The design also receives a slight overhaul in the form of more curvy edges.

And while the original PS Vita carries on it a 960 x 544 pixel OLED screen, this one grabs hold of an IPS LCD monitor of the same resolution. 1GB worth of storage is included with the PS Vita Slim along with improved battery life. Other than that, the device remains the same, with the same dual analog sticks, front and rear cameras, rear trackpad and other innovative features.

Like we said, the PS Vita Slim will be making its way into the UK on February 7, priced at 180 GBP (approx. Rs 18,660).
