Xbox One Gold subscriptions to allow sharing of benefits on one console

Microsoft has gone ahead and detailed exactly how Gold subscribers on the Xbox One will be able to share benefits of the service with their family and even friends. The company is calling its new policy Home Gold, and under it, Xbox One gamers will get to share a number of main attributes of their premium membership including multiplayer gaming with an unlimited number of people who use the same console as theirs. Moreover, information about the sharing of digital games has been put forth by Microsoft as well.

Through the console’s Wire blog, chief product officer for the console, Marc Whitten has conveyed that every Gold subscriber will be able to extend benefits like multiplayer gaming, Game DVR, SmartMatch, The NFL, Skype and Internet Explorer to everyone in their house; and this, without them even having to stay logged in. So as long as it’s the same console, an unlimited number of people can enjoy the main benefits of an Xbox One Gold membership.

And if a subscriber visits a friend who doesn’t have the membership, they will both be able to enjoy multiplayer gaming and all other features for as long as the Gold account is logged in on that particular Xbox One console. Coming to the sharing of digital games on the Xbox One, it can be noted that it’s pretty similar to how it works at the moment with the 360. If a person buys a digital title, he/she and all their household members using the same console will be able to jump into it without any difficulties.

And thanks to the strong cloud services that the Xbox One boasts off, buying a game once will allow players to download it again and again on whichever console they wish to play it on. But of course, once the main purchaser logs out, it will become inaccessible to console owner.
