Neo Geo X Handheld Games Console Revealed for 2012 Release

Classic titles have yet another reason to find their way back onto gamers’ shelves, as the Neo Geo X handheld games console has been announced by Tommo Inc. and Blaze. Arriving in stores during Q2 of 2012, this device will be sold as a limited edition product, and will come equipped with a total of twenty officially licensed Neo Geo games.

The launch will take place following the 20th anniversary of the revered Neo Geo AES console. The hardware of this handheld comprises an SD card expansion, a 3.5-inch LCD screen, an A/V output, internal stereo speakers and a headphone socket. The standard A,B,C and D buttons also appear to be present on the device. The twenty available games for the handheld include the likes of Metalslug, The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury and more.

“The NEOGEO console has always been a personal favorite of mine and I am delighted to be involved with the development of this new handheld console,” said Jason Cooper of Blaze. “We hope to re-ignite the excitement many of us felt twenty one years ago, in a more affordable manner, to a much wider audience.”

Acclaimed yesteryear titles like Art of Fighting, Baseball Stars, Cyber Lip, Sengoku, Super Sidekicks, NAM 1975, The Ultimate 11, Top Players Golf, World Heroes, League Bowling, Magician Lord and Football Frenzy are also included in the list of available games for the device. The Neo Geo X handheld games console release date and price are yet to be announced, but it has been confirmed that it will be distributed in the U.S. by Tommo Inc., while its distribution in Europe, Middle East and Australia will be handled by Blaze.
