Microsoft launches the SideWinder X4 Keyboard

PC gamers are always looking for better ways to experience games and to get the competitive edge when gaming. In view of this, Microsoft Hardware has launched the SideWinder X4 Keyboard, a keyboard designed with some of the most advanced anti-ghosting technology. The keyboard also has other advanced gaming features such as macro recording, mode and profile switching, as well as adjustable backlighting.

This new technology has been developed by the Applied Sciences Group, an interdisciplinary research and development team which does applied research for Microsoft Hardware, Microsoft Surface and Xbox 360. The advanced technology takes a leap in anti-ghosting, allowing gamers to press up to 26 keys at once.

“We’re always looking for new and novel ways to enhance people’s interactions with their PCs,” Steven Bathiche, research manager of the Applied Sciences Group at Microsoft said. “We know that ghosting can be a problem for gamers, so we wanted to develop a way to eliminate this issue and improve the overall gaming experience, and we’ve succeeded with the new anti-ghosting technology in the SideWinder X4 Keyboard.”

The macro recording feature of the Microsoft SideWinder X4 Keyboard allows for gamers to string together multiple moves with the click of a button. Mode and profiles switching allows for easy customisation while gamers can set just the level of lighting they want with adjustable backlighting.

The Microsoft SideWinder X4 Keyboard is priced at 59.95 USD (approx. Rs. 2,760) and will go on sale from March 2010. The keyboard will be available for pre-sale on Amazon.com shortly and is backed by a three-year limited hardware warranty.
