Lucid Hydra Engine

Asus’ new motherboards will allow for ultra-realistic gaming experiences making use of the unique multi-GPU sharing capabilities of the Hydra Engine. Consumers will be able to mix and match up to three GPUs of any brand or series. Asus has also made use of the versatile Hydra engine to create a concept motherboard called Immensity. It uses an on-board discrete GPU to give better performance and maintain an appropriate balance of power.

“Hydra’s unique offering enables leading vendors like Asus to unleash their creative freedom,” LucidLogix, co-founder and president, Offir Remez stated. “For the first time, Asus is now offering a desktop motherboard that allows for mix and match graphics performance and power with an on-board discrete GPU, an industry first motherboard concept.”

The Hydra engine is designed to satisfy the needs of power hungry PC gamers. It is especially suited for those wanting to upgrade to multiple GPUs from a variety of vendors. The new approach allows interoperability between GPUs and chipsets so that every frame of the game is simultaneously processed.
