The Game Awards Highlights: From Cyberpunk 2077 DLC to Death Stranding Sequel

Unsurprisingly, Elden Ring took home the title of Game of the Year at this year’s Game Awards, along with several other awards. But the show, as always, was home to several showcases that gamers can look forward to in the coming months and years. Here are all the highlights:

Returnal and The Last of Us are headed to PC

The Last of Us Part I is headed to PC along with Returnal. While the former has a proper release date set – March 3 – the latter is slated to arrive sometime in early 2023.

Ken Levine’s new game is here

BioShock creator Ken Levine’s Ghost Story Games surprised us with a reveal of its upcoming game named Judas. Spoiler alert: It looks eerily similar to BioShock and that shouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing, as you’ll notice when you watch the trailer.

Death Stranding sequel announced

Hideo Kojima is working on multiple projects at the moment but it seems a Death Stranding sequel will be arriving before all of them. The game is going by the working title of Death Stranding 2 or DS2.

We got a more in-depth look at the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie. The clip features Toad and Mario walking through the Mushroom Kingdom before arriving at Peach’s Castle.

Cyberpunk 2077 DLC

Hollywood star Idris Alba stars in the first big expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 called Phantom Liberty. It will be released next year only for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

From Software’s next game is Armored Core VI

From Software complemented its awards sweep by giving us a glimpse of Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, their next entry to the mecha shooter series that has its roots in the 1990s.

Final Fantasy XVI gets release date

A new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI has given us a release date to look forward to. June 22 is when the JRPG will be made available for the PS5.

Horizon Forbidden West expansion revealed

Like its predecessor, Horizon Forbidden West will also get a big expansion. Titled Burning Shores, it will be made available this April but only for the PS5 version of the game.

Diablo 4 has a release date finally

June 6 is the date on which Diablo 4 will finally be out. It will be a multi-platform release for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Street Fighter 6 is coming in the same month

Four days prior to Diablo 4, Street Fighter 6 will be made available by Capcom. A new trailer is available to watch for fans of the long-running series.

Hades 2 is coming

Supergiant has announced a sequel to its 2020 roguelike, Hades. There’s no release date in sight but you can definitely expect it in 2023.

Destiny 2’s Lightfall gets a gameplay trailer

Fans of Destiny 2 have one more reason to jump into the shooter. Its newest expansion titled Lightfall is slated to arrive on February 2028.

Newest Star Wars game gets a trailer

March 17 is the date on which Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be made available on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S.

Plenty of other reveals took place at the Game Awards 2022. Dead Cells is getting a Return to Castlevania DLC, while a Valiant Hearts sequel was also revealed.

VR game Horizon Call of the Mountain got a new trailer as well, whereas a new PlayStation puzzle game was announced in the form of Viewfinder.

As for the awards, they were swept by Elden Ring, with God of War Ranganarok and Stray being the other two big winners.
