Hideo Kojima in talks with Junji Ito for new horror game

If like us, you were also wondering what Hideo Kojima’s next project will be, we may have an answer to that question. It has come to light that Kojima is in talks with renowned horror mangaka, Junji Ito for a horror game. This could be one more attempt of his to toy with the horror genre since his Silent Hill project fell apart following his split with Konami.

Junji Ito, spoke through a translator at Comic-Con 2020 (via ComicBook), saying, “I do know director Kojima and we have been in conversation that he may have a horror-based game that he may be doing, and so he has invited me to work on that, but there are no details on it yet.” However, nothing further has been revealed as yet.

Kojima had actually wanted to work with Ito as a concept artist for the now-dead Silent Hill game. News about the brokering of peace between Kojima and Konami by Sony was doing the rounds some time ago, but that hasn’t turned out to be true. However, Konami has indeed confirmed that the Silent Hill franchise is not dead yet.

Junji Ito is most notable for works like Tomie, a manga series featuring an immortal girl who drives her stricken admirers to madness, and Uzumaki, a series about a town obsessed with spirals. The Japanese artist has many more famous manga series to his credit.

Kojima’s last outing was, of course, Death Stranding, which broke its PS4 exclusivity and made its way to PC earlier this month. The post-apocalyptic offering tells the story of a courier tasked with delivering supplies to the fractured and isolated colonies that remain in the US and reconnecting them via a wireless communications network.
