PS4 Games You Can Play On PS5 At Launch

Bloodborne

Don’t worry, you won’t have to give up your beloved PS4 games if you want a shiny new PS5 console in November. Sony has revealed that the PS5 will be backward compatible with a vast majority of PS4 titles, and what’s interesting is the PS5 will be able to run most PS4 games at launch. This should come as good news for PlayStation fans who want to switch to the next-gen console, when it launches this holiday season.

If you’re wondering which PS4 games will run on the PS5, Sony mentioned a few when it revealed PS5 pricing and release date information. The PS4 titles Sony said would run on the PS5 include the latest main installment in the Batman franchise titled Batman Arkham Knight, Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World, FromSoftware’s action-RPG dubbed Bloodborne, Persona 5, the post-apocalyptic Fallout 4 and the latest God of War.

These games and more will be made available for download to PS Plus members for no extra charge as part of Sony’s PlayStation Plus Collection, which offers a curated library of PS4 games for download.

And in what will come as good news to those upgrading, in an interview with The Washington Post, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan said that Sony has tested thousands of games for PS4 backwards compatibility and that you will be able to play “99 percent” of PS4 games on the PS5 – great news for anyone considering the upgrade.

The Japanese gaming giant had earlier revealed that the PS5 won’t be compatible with games built for the PS1, PS2 and PS3. And there are a few reports that the standard edition of the PS5, the one that has a disc drive, will be able to read PS4 game discs, and that PS5 owners will be able to download any games they have previously purchased for their PS4 consoles. These reports are unconfirmed, however, and we wait for Sony to make it official.
