XCOM 2 Goes Mobile Next Month With iOS Release

XCOM 2

Released in 2016, XCOM 2 turned out to be an exquisite sequel to its much-lauded predecessor. It had made its debut on PC, Mac, and Linux and had gone on to get PS4 and Xbox One releases in the same year. And while May 2020 saw it making its way to the Nintendo Switch, November is all set to witness the game being launched for the iOS platform. November 5 is when it’ll be made available on the App Store, to be precise.

The game will be released on iOS in the form of the XCOM 2 Collection. That means, apart from the base game, all its downloadable content will also be crammed into the package. This includes the War of the Chosen expansion and four DLC packs – Resistance Warrior Pack, Anarchy’s Children, Alien Hunters, and Shen’s Last Gift.

The trademark turn-based strategy gameplay of the XCOM series will be a perfect fit for small displays and touch-screen gameplay. It must, however, be noted that the game will only be supported by iPhones released after the iPhone X, iPad Pros released after 2017, and iPads distributed after 2019. And the price of the XCOM 2 Collection also happens to be quite steep, at $24.99 (approximately Rs 1832).

2012 was when the classic XCOM series was rebooted with the launch of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which was developed by Firaxis Games. The game received immense acclaim for its difficulty, replayability, and addictiveness. It wasn’t a surprise then that a sequel came out four years later. Developed by the same studio, it carried the original game’s legacy forward and was also met with wide critical acclaim.

As we said, the XCOM 2 Collection will be released for iOS devices through the App Store on November 5.
