Believe it or not, Tappy Chicken is an Unreal Engine 4 game for Android and iOS

Epic Games has just published a title named Tappy Chicken, and if that’s not a surprise to you, the fact that it has been developed using the Unreal Engine 4 technology definitely will be. This game is available free of cost for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets as well as on HTML5 browsers, and it has been released with the aim of demonstrating how flexible Epic’s latest development engine actually is.

Seeing this game is particularly surprising, considering that demonstrations of UE4 have all been extremely high-end affairs hitherto. Amidst all that, what made Epic publish a Flappy Bird clone? Apparently, it was developed by a single employee of the company and that too within a week. And the fact that this person is an artist and not a programmer further presses Epic’s claims of Unreal Engine 4 being an extremely flexible and easy-to-use tool.

It stands among a flurry of other games like Flappy Bird which burst on to the scene when the said title was suddenly removed from app stores by its maker. Tappy Chicken grabs similar mechanics, but is slightly slower-paced, grabs randomized environments and features an egg collection system as well as support for Google Play Games leaderboards and Game Center. All the code to this game has also been made available by Epic through its official site.

You can grab Tappy Chicken for free through the Google Play store and the Apple App Store right now. Its browser version has not gone live yet, but expect that to happen soon.
