Sound Shapes to Contain Exclusive Tracks from Beck

Sound Shapes, an upcoming music platformer coming to the PS3 and PS Vita next month, has been revealed by its maker to feature three exclusive songs from American alternative rock artist, Beck. Dubbed Cities, Touch the People and Spiral Staircase, these tracks have been incorporated in the game’s distinctive levels that are based on song structures.

Beck accompanies artists like Deadmau5, Jim Guthrie and I Am Robot and Proud, who have also lent their music to the title. This Grammy Award-winner has gained recognition through successful albums such as Mellow Gold, Odelay and Modern Guilt. The video we’ve posted below has a preview of Cities, with the game being played on the PS3.

“Beck’s more than just familiar with the world of video games. In fact, with his 2005 album Guero he actually snuck out a wee EP, Hell Yes, which remixed tracks from that album as chiptunes—and we’re thrilled to have him on board. That’s not to say, however, that Beck sent us ‘video game music.’ One of the powerful things about Beck’s music is the variety of styles he’s comfortable working in,” Mathew Kumar from the Sound Shapes team wrote on the official PlayStation blog.
