Nyu Media Partners With Capcom for Japanese Indie Game Publishing

Localized Japanese indie games might soon be able to easily find their way into markets in the US, Europe and other regions worldwide, owing to a partnership between Nyu Media and Capcom. Announced to have been completed yesterday, this publishing deal will have an arcade shooter named Satazius as its first release.

Developed by Astro Port, this retro shooter apparently comprises tributes to several classic shooting games. It is said to include addictively designed levels, gigantic boss battles as well as a wide array of upgradeable weapons. This game will be made available for purchase this month for the PC through Steam, GamersGate, Impulse, Direct-2-Drive and other digital distribution services.

“We’re delighted to partner with Capcom to give these titles the attention and breadth of distribution they so richly deserve, and also to further legitimize the indie gaming community as a whole,” revealed, Seon King, founder of Nyu Media. “In addition to being available on the major digital distribution services, the games’ accessible pricing will make it easier than ever for gamers to enjoy the games and support the indie developers.”

Furthermore, many new PC titles are also lined up for launch in 2012. These include Cherry Tree High Comedy Club, Ether Vapor Remaster, eXceed 2nd – Vampire Rex, eXceed 3rd – Jade Penetrate Black Package and Fighting Fairy. All these offerings have been created by Japanese indie developers like atelier773, Edelweiss and Tennen-sozai.

The first result of this new partnership between Nyu Media and Capcom, will be released in the form of Satazius for the PC on December 20, 2011. It will be priced at 5.99 USD (approx. Rs. 311).
