PC Gamers Win War in Microsoft Project: HP’s Rahul Sood

The ongoing battle between PC gamers and console gamers just received another spark in the form of a hush-hush project by Microsoft. Rumor had it that the company had initiated a project that would apparently pit PC and console gamers against each other over a connected environment like in games such as Gears of War and Unreal. According to a post on Rahul Sood’s blog, Microsoft’s project may have been shut altogether, perhaps because console gamers were shaping up to be no match for PC gamers.

PC Above Console

As the post on Sood’s blog mentions, reliable sources reveal that expert console gamers were roped in to face mediocre PC gamers on the same titles. It is believed that the console controllers were pitted against the PC gamers’ preferences of keyboard and mouse. The outcome seems to have been that console gamers were being defeated in a big way. Sood believes that this project could have put PC gaming in a “much better position”.

“The console players got destroyed every time,” Sood blogs. “So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative.” Sood’s blog also states that the PC offers gamers a higher level of control and detail as compared to a console. PC gaming even boasts of being more mobile in nature as compared to their console counterparts.

What do you make of this “project”? Do you think PC gamers have it better than their Xbox 360 counterparts?
