Street Fighter IV coming to Apple’s App Store in March

Street Fighter IV from Capcom received a fair amount of critical acclaim when it released for home consoles last year. And looking to expand that success Capcom has announced that Street Fighter IV will be fighting its way onto the iPhone and iPod Touch this March. The game will have a roster of fighters from the console releases, which includes many classic as well as newly introduced figures.

“This is Street Fighter IV in all its glory… uncompromised and awesome,” Takeshi Tezuka, General Manager of Mobile Content Development, Capcom exclaimed. “We’re particularly proud of the multiplayer feature as it remains true to the series arcade roots by allowing players to go head-to-head over Bluetooth in spectacular fashion.”

For those of you wondering how the game will run on the Apple platform, Street Fighter IV for the iPhone will use an advanced virtual d-pad, dubbed the ‘Visual Pad’ control interface. This is fully customizable, and players will be able to adjust it to suit their needs, and even set the transparency level of the controls.

There will be a new ‘Dojo’ mode for newcomers to the series, and the iPhone game will also feature a Bluetooth multiplayer mode which can be used to go head-to-head against friends. The exact March release date and prices for the iPhone and iPod Touch game have not been revealed at this point.
