Take-Two Interactive acquired Irrational Games, and subsequently changed the studio’s name to 2K Boston. But now according to Game Informer, the studio known for creating BioShock, 2K Boston has changed its name back to Irrational Games.

Apparently the step was taken as the studio was being repeatedly referred to as ‘2K Boston (formerly Irrational Games)’, and the team members recognized the value in the previous identity and the legacy which went along with it. So there you have it. 2K Boston (formerly Irrational Games) is now (once again) Irrational Games.
According to Game Informer, this reverting back to the studio’s roots is symbolic of more than just a new name and logo. It also represents a renewed commitment to its fans. The studio’s official web site promises some intriguing community features as well as insight into the game creation processes, plus never-before-seen things about games such as System Shock 2, Freedom Force and BioShock.
Irrational Games was founded by members of Looking Glass Studios, who were themselves responsible for games such as System Shock and Thief.
