Sitting pretty at the top position is Microsoft’s flagship franchise Halo- the ‘Best-Selling First-Person Shooter (FPS) Franchise Ever’. “We decided to take a different approach with this list than we did in the previous edition. Instead of asking developers, industry insiders and journalists to rank their favorite titles, we approached a different kind of expert: the players themselves! We are confident that this ‘top 50’ more accurately reflects the tastes of the average gamer and not just the critics,” commented Guinness World Records Gaming Editor Gaz Deaves.

Coming in at the second and third position are Call of Duty and The Legend of Zelda respectively. The former game is noted to be the most successful entertainment launch of all-time as it includes beautifully balanced gameplay with jaw-dropping set pieces as well as extensive multiplayer options, reveals the Gamer’s Edition. It also gives Zelda credit for the inclusion of its skill levels as well as immersive gameplay and a recognizable hero named Link.

Guitar Hero, Metal Gear, Super Mario Bros., World of Warcraft, Gears of War, Super Smash Bros and Grand Theft Auto are the other titles that ensued in the top ten. Counter-Strike, FIFA, Pac-Man acquired the 16th, 18th, 21st place while LittleBigPlanet, Need for Speed, StarCraft came in at 27th, 36th and 39th positions.
