Piracy is something we may never get rid of. It is quite rampant in the world of gaming where video games cost what they do now-a-days. And now TorrentFreak is reporting that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the most pirated game of 2009 on PC. The game has been downloaded illegally more than 4.1 million times for the PC, and also leads the Xbox 360 list of illegally downloaded titles this year.
Modern Warfare 2 shattered all records and sold a combined total of about 4.7 million copies in the US and UK in the first 24 hours pulling in revenue totaling about 310 million US dollars during that period. It subsequently achieved the status of biggest ever entertainment launch in history. So it’s no surprise that the game tops the most pirated.
New Super Mario Bros. was the title which captured top spot as the most pirated Wii game of the year. And what is shocking is that both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii both shipped in November leaving little time in the year for pirating. But the results speak for themselves.
