World Gaming Day Held in Mumbai

Xbox 360, Sony Ericsson and Zapak.com went forward with ‘World Gaming Day‘ on February 12, 2009. This is the first time gaming has ever been celebrated on such a level.

The ‘World Gaming Day’ celebrations had boiled over for 4 weeks and today the winners were decided. Overall upwards of 19 million gameplays took place. Some of the more involved countries that took part in this enterprise include India, USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.

The sun-up to sun-down, absolute whale of a gaming fest was arranged for gamers across three platforms, the PC, the mobile phone and the Xbox console. There was an assortment of prizes and freebies being given away to the participants.

World Gaming Day 2

Present at the event were Bollywood actors Madhavan and Neetu Chandra to promote their movie 13B which releases soon. The two of them also competed against the nationwide winners, by way of Sony Ericsson’s motion sensor gaming phone. They played a round of bowling against the various winners and everyone was abuzz around this mini event.

Madhavan was eager to share a few quips, jokingly saying he played with people and toys alike. “Gaming is fun and I have always had a gamer in me,” he laughed. “I am very happy to be here today and be part of the celebrations of the ‘World Gaming Day’ and dedicate my time to something I really love doing.”

Actress Neetu Chandra followed up saying, “I am glad that Sony Ericsson, Zapak and Xbox 360 have taken such an initiative and given gamers across the world a day to celebrate. I enjoy gaming on my phone and I believe it’s coming up as an entertainment option.”

All-in-all the event was a whole lot of fun and we got to play a few mouth-watering games like GTA IV, Gears of War 2 on the Xbox 360.
