Radiant Silvergun Requested For XBLA By Microsoft

There are many games that were released in Japan but never released in the western world. These gems, however, have got a new platform via services like the Xbox Live Arcade and the Virtual console. One such game was Radiant Silvergun, which was released for the arcade as well as Sega Saturn in the late nineties.

Now it has emerged that Microsoft apparently wanted Radiant Silvergun for the Xbox Live Arcade. Masato Maegawa is the chief executive officer of Treasure, the developers of the shooter. Gamasutra is reporting that Maegawa told them in an interview that they would definitely like to see Radiant Silvergun out there but doesn’t know if they would get it on Xbox Live.

Masato Maegawa later added, “Microsoft actually asked us if we could put it out. We are thinking about it, certainly, but it’s not as simple as just saying ‘OK, let’s put it up.’ I mean, sure, with Ikaruga, we released it as-is without having to do or add a great deal to the game, and it was popular and well accepted for what it was.”

Maegawa also pointed out that the game has surely aged in assorted ways. Though not released in North America, Radiant Silvergun was frequently imported by gamers. It could be one of the reasons that Microsoft is excited about the shooter game. Well, let’s hope they do release Radiant Silvergun on the XBLA.
