Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, Zapak Digital Entertainment commented, “The movie District 9 gives us an interesting opportunity to provide a sci-fi game to our Indian audience. Zapak being the leading gaming portal in India will be able to reach out to maximum gamers in the country. We believe this game will be well accepted as it has a unique offering for our gamers.”

The game gives players the choice to play either as a human or non-human character. The human character is put on a mission to patrol the District 9 as an MNU officer and shoot or arrest 20 non-human characters to progress to the next stage. Playing as the non-human character, gamers have to take some action against the MNU Corporation and the guards patrolling the premises, in addition to searching the slums of District 9 after curfew, to find alien fuel canisters.

The District 9 movie is scheduled for a September 11, 2009 release across India. As for the District 9 video game, we checked out the official website for the game, but got a 404 error when we tried to play. We really weren’t welcome there.
